As a keynote speaker and trainer, bestselling author, and coach, I help audiences and leaders in the private club, luxury hospitality, and service-based industries create engaged teams that deliver remarkable service through hands-on emotional intelligence (EQ) development that connects and unites.

I’ve been inspiring others from the stage for nearly my entire career. From producing Fortune Global 500 service training programs to teaching yoga for the NFL Combine and behavioral health centers to delivering keynotes and facilitating workshops at private clubs, I thrive on giving your audience an experience that will live on in their hearts and minds long after your event is over.

My most important work took place over a decade ago. I was burnt out in my career, struggling to find balance, and then hit rock bottom in my marriage. Faced with the raw truth that I was the common denominator in all of these challenges, I underwent an intense journey of emotional intelligence. With the help of many mindset coaches, business mentors, and teachers, I discovered resilience, authentic power, and joy. (Hence the name of my business, Joy Discovered.)

I complimented this hard-won wisdom with Harvard University’s Certificate of Leadership Excellence with an emphasis on EQ and executive coaching. I also obtained Florida State University’s Professional Certification In Resilience and a Certified Coach designation from the Conscious Coaching Institute.

In 2021, I was invited to be an Executive Contributor on Leadership for Brainz Magazine where I was awarded the Global 500 Success Coaching Award. I currently serve as the Secretary on the Board of Directors for HR Collier, a SHRM affiliate, and as a subject matter expert on mental well-being for Florida’s State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP).

What Is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional intelligence (often abbreviated at EQ or EI) is the ability to understand and manage yourself so you can positively influence others and have meaningful relationships at work and home. It’s the process of first mastering our own thoughts, emotions, habits, and unconscious communication patterns so they don’t hijack our intended behavior. Emotional intelligence requires empathy, vulnerability, and being able to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes so we can connect with them. It asks us to summon the courage to have tough-love conversations, hold others (and ourselves) accountable, and lead from inspiration and human-centeredness rather than from fear.

EQ is broken down into four linear pillars:

  1. Self-Awareness
  2. Self-Management
  3. Others-Awareness
  4. Relationship Management
