I was in the shower when this hit me:
“Good vibes only” is slowly killing us.
Not just physically—but emotionally, mentally, spiritually.
As an emotional intelligence coach, I hear this all the time from high-achievers:
“I’m focusing on the good.”
“I’m grateful, so I don’t want to complain.”
“If I just stay positive, things will be fine.”
And don’t get me wrong—I’m a big fan of gratitude.
I am a positive person.
And I do believe in choosing empowering thoughts. Especially because your attitude impacts the team you lead at both work + home.
But here’s the truth most people miss:
Feelings aren’t good or bad. They’re data.
They’re feedback about what needs to change—either in our environment or in us.
When we ignore the frustration, the resentment, the anger, the disappointment—when we shove those “bad vibes” down and smile through it—we’re not being emotionally intelligent. We’re being emotionally avoidant.
And over time, that avoidance costs us.
It kills our alignment.
Our joy.
Our ability to make decisions that actually support the life we want.
And yes, in some cases… it even affects our health.
📊 Did you know 95% of primary care visits are linked to stress-related illness?
Because when we chronically suppress our emotions, we trap stress in the body. And that chronic stress weakens our immune system and contributes to burnout, fatigue, and disease.
This isn’t about wallowing in negativity.
It’s about being honest—with ourselves first—so we can lead, live, and love with integrity.
💜
This is the work I had to do myself.
Years ago, I left my high-level corporate job thinking that was the problem.
I traded power suits for yoga pants, taught classes full-time, and thought I’d found my peace.
But the burnout followed me.
Because it wasn’t just the job.
It was the way I was showing up—in everything—that needed to change.
And now, I support others on this same journey.
If you’re a high performer who feels stretched thin, stuck in over-functioning, or tired of pretending “everything’s fine,” book a free coaching consultation with me to learn how I can support you.
I’ll take care of the rest.
With love,
Your coach,
💜Sara
P.S. Emotional intelligence isn’t about always feeling good.
It’s about learning how to feel everything—and lead yourself through it with courage.
